- Dormant Pruning (January or February) to encourage vigor; Summer pruning (post-harvest) to control vigor
- Fruit thinning as fruit emerges, reduce the crop to roughly 1 fruit per 6 inches of shoot growth
- Monitor for and control common pests and diseases, such as fireblight and codling moth
