Parents often try to predict the gender of their offspring, but is it possible to predict the sex of a cyst or sexually dimorphic nematode?

If you've ever watched flameskimmer dragonflies (Libellula saturata) zip-zagging around your yard looking for prey, you've probably marveled at the wings.

It's the first week of spring at the Haven and our plants are starting to look their best. For those of you who cannot make it to the garden this week, here's a brief tour of what's going on. For those who can make it, I've included some of the bees to look for.

Congratulations to noted entomologist Michael Hoffmann, an emeritus professor at Cornell University, for his selection as the 2020 Thomas and Nina Leigh Distinguished Alumnus Award, UC Davis Department of Entomology and Nematology.
