The School of Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley was recently granted candidacy for accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics for their new Berkeley Public Health Dietetic Internship program.

Recently I [Matt] had a chance to interview 4-H alumnus Sandi Fitzpatrick, who is also our University of California Cooperative Extension Master Gardener President for Placer County. The following are Sandi's responses to my questions.

Some of you probably know what my family has experienced over the last 10 months. I won't rehash it all here - if you're interested, I invite you to check out my personal blog at www.flyingmule.blogspot.com. Needless to say, 2023 has been quite a year.

Do you feel like something is biting you? Have red swollen spots on your skin? There are many biting and stinging pests that could cause such reactions, such as mosquitoes, ticks, mites, bed bugs, fleas, and head lice. But sometimes it can be the result of an allergic skin reaction.

Recently I [Matt] had a chance to interview 4-H youth member Eva who is also this year's 4-H club president for Franklin in Sutter County. The following are Eva's responses to my questions.

Lauren Au, Nutrition Policy Institute affiliated researcher and assistant professor of nutrition at the University of California, Davis, received the 2023 Huddelson award from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation.

Fall is here and so are the many delicious varieties of apples on the Central Coast! Apples are versatile and can be used in a variety of ways, like chutney.

If you attended the Bohart Museum of Entomology's private party, hosted by the Bohart Museum Society for its members and friends, you witnessed a praying mantis, a dragonfly, a honeybee, a monarch butterfly and a horse fly all getting along fabulously.

Trick or treat? Treat, please, says this jumping spider. It's time to jump in to help the 13th annual UC Davis Biodiversity Museum Day crowdunding project. It's a Super Science Day to be held Saturday, Feb. 10 on the UC Davis campus. It's a free and family friendly event.
