Pruning California Native Trees and Shrubs

Program: Introduction to Pruning California Native Trees & Shrubs from an Aesthetic & Conservation/Ecology Perspective: the slide show lecture covers basic pruning, structuring woody plants, recognizing forms of specific species and how their habit informs the way we prune, pruning timing, and interweaving artistic concepts for achieving best results for health and vitality of the plant. A substantial handout accompanies the talk with specific pointers you can refer to later for dozens of California native trees and shrubs.

Speaker: As a Certified Arborist, Certified Aesthetic Pruner, and arborecologist, Jocelyn Cohen has extensive experience with pruning, land restoration and tree care. With a background in landscape and garden design, fine arts, graphic design and of course arboriculture she brings a nuanced perspective to pruning.
