All About Herbs and Edible Flowers
About the Event
Have you ever sprinkled beautiful lavender chive flowers on a salad? Or tossed a nasturtium in with your greens? Discover or renew gardening excitement and learn the basics of growing, harvesting and using culinary herbs and edible flowers. Integrate your herbs and edible flowers in your native landscapes, vegetable gardens and containers. Maintain your plants using sustainable methods, and harvest your herbs to use fresh or dry them for future use. Let’s have fun while sharing the many ways of using herbs.
UC Master Gardener Presenter Cindi Morris: Cindi's love affair with plants began in the 4th grade when she visited the Ferry Morse Seed Company where her father worked. She loved peeking into the labs and seeing all the experiments. The best part was picking out some seed packets to take home to grow in her backyard. Cindi has always been amazed that you could plant a small seed and it would grow into a beautiful flower. Today, Cindi runs the herb garden at San Carlos City Hall and Library, holds plant clinics at the San Mateo Arboretum in Central Park, and lectures on a variety of gardening subjects. But her favorite thing to do is to grow plants from seeds or cuttings.
