Listed here are the enrollment steps to enroll as a new 4-H adult volunteer. Please read through carefully.
Create an adult volunteer profile on Z Suite
Please note that the email address you enter in the Family email is the primary way you will receive communications from 4-H.
Complete the online 4-H Volunteer Interest Survey

Complete a Live Scan background check with the California Department of Justice
Contact jkzediker@ucanr.ed to receive the latest livescan form and fingerprinting information.
New Volunteer Training
For volunteers starting their first year as a volunteer or coming back after a break of a year or more. The course includes essential parts of 4-H service, such as orientation, CANRA guidelines, and the 4-H Thriving Model for Positive Youth Development. Individuals will also learn about 2-Deep Supervision and how to create a safe and welcoming environment for all youth.
Course length: 1 hour and 35 minutes (can be done in multiple sessions). /

*Please note: Some clubs cover their volunteers costs for enrollment and/or livescans. Please contact your club leader or UCCE office to confirm before making a payment.
Pay your enrollment Fee. Enrollment fees are $28.00 per adult volunteer and you can pay in one of two ways:
Option 1: Pay online with a credit card https://surveys.ucanr.edu/survey.cfm?surveynumber=49589
Please note that the enrollment fee when paying by credit card is $30.50 instead of $28.00. This is to cover any credit card processing fees.

- Add in payment information.
- Submit & Confirm. You’ll receive an email receipt automatically. Keep this in case we need to see it.
Our office will notify the Unit’s Community Club Leader, Enrollment Coordinator, and Treasure of any payments received under these surveys.
Option 2: Pay by check
Payable to UC Regents and delivered directly or mailed to the 4-H office.
Please make a note of who the enrollment fees are for. (Please note no enrollment fees should be given to the 4-H club leaders unless it is for direct delivery to the 4-H office.)
7. Approval
The Community Education Specialist or Regional Supervisor reviews and approves 4-H volunteer appointments after:
- You are signed up online via Z Suite
- You have passed the screening process: DOJ & FBI Livescan
- You complete all of the New Volunteer Training required in your county
Once you are approved, the fun begins!
