2026 Call for CE Positions to be released soon

We will formally launch the 2026 Cooperative Extension (CE) Position Call later this month.

We know many of you have heard about the upcoming position call during various meetings. We want to make sure everyone knows this exciting news, and we encourage conversations about position priorities to get underway. The following groups are asked to identify CE position priorities:

  • Program Teams with input from Statewide Program/Institute Directors and REC Directors – for Specialist and Advisor positions
  • County/Area Directors – for Advisor positions
  • Department Chairs and campus leadership – for campus-based Specialist positions

Program Team Leaders, Statewide Program/Institute Directors, REC Directors, County/Area Directors, Department Chairs and campus leadership -- Save the Date for the orientation webinar on March 4 at 1- 3 pm. This will be recorded and posted on the 2026 position call web page coming soon.

As chair of the UC ANR Program Council, I want you to know this group, which oversees the position call process, has incorporated broad feedback from the last call for an improved process. The 2026 process will also leverage the new Program Team structure and their statewide and multidisciplinary perspectives.

Below is a snapshot of the timeline. More details will follow soon.

  1. Identify priority positions – by March 31
  2. Match priorities with other groups – by April 24
  3. Proposal co-creation and submission – by June 12
  4. Program Council reviews and develops recommendations – July 7-8
  5. Vice President Humiston makes final decision and releases positions – early fall

Vice President Humiston will release about 20 new priority CE positions, with the same breakdown as in the recent past position calls, 2/3 Advisors and 1/3 Specialists, to ensure we have a robust community-based presence.

I am looking forward to this important, collaborative effort.

Best regards,

Darren Haver
Interim Associate Vice President for Research and Cooperative Extension
