The Alameda County 4-H Youth Development Program is powered by dedicated volunteers and youth leaders who are passionate about helping young people thrive. Whether you're a parent, volunteer, teen member, or community supporter, there are many ways to make a lasting impact beyond your club.
County committees help shape the future of 4-H by planning events, supporting county programs, developing new opportunities, and ensuring every member has the chance to grow. Youth are also encouraged to step into leadership roles through our County Ambassador program and committee participation.
County Committees
4-H Grows Committee
Help expand the reach of Alameda County 4-H by promoting the program throughout the county. This committee focuses on welcoming new families and ensuring that 4-H is accessible to youth of all backgrounds, communities, abilities, and interests.
Support Committee
Support the financial success of Alameda County 4-H by organizing fundraising efforts. This committee's primary responsibility is managing the popular Alameda County Fair Cake Booth, one of the county program's largest annual fundraisers.
Fair Committee
Work alongside county fair leadership to promote and strengthen 4-H participation at the Alameda County Fair. Committee members represent a wide variety of project areas, including livestock, gardening, small animals, horses, and still exhibits, helping ensure a successful fair experience for all members.
Camp Committee
Help create unforgettable summer experiences for youth by planning and managing the annual Alameda County 4-H Summer Camp. This committee also oversees the Camp Academy leadership project, where older youth develop leadership, teamwork, and mentoring skills while preparing to serve at camp.
Events Committee
Plan and coordinate county-wide educational and leadership events throughout the year. Volunteers may serve on event-specific planning teams, including:
- Fashion Revue
- Presentation Day
- Other county educational and leadership events
County Incentives & Recognition Committee (CIRC)
Celebrate the accomplishments of Alameda County 4-H members by overseeing the county's recognition programs. Responsibilities include:
- Record Book Evaluations
- Achievement Awards
- County Ambassador selection
- Scholarship programs
Communications Committee
Help tell the story of Alameda County 4-H by promoting programs, events, and member accomplishments. This committee manages communications through social media, newsletters, photography, and the county calendar to keep members and the community informed.
Shooting Sports Committee
Support the safe and responsible growth of Alameda County's shooting sports program. The committee coordinates county shooting sports activities while encouraging participation in state and national events.
Livestock Committee
Provide leadership and guidance for animal science programs and fair participation throughout the county. Subcommittees support specific project areas, including:
- Small Animals
- Beef
- Dairy
- Goats & Sheep
- Swine
- Horses
County Ambassador Program
The Alameda County 4-H Ambassador Program provides outstanding senior members with opportunities to grow as leaders while serving as representatives of the county program.
County Ambassadors inspire younger members, promote 4-H within their communities, assist at county events, and serve as youth voices in county leadership. Through public speaking, mentoring, event planning, and community outreach, Ambassadors develop valuable leadership and communication skills that prepare them for success both within and beyond 4-H.
Members interested in becoming a County Ambassador are encouraged to participate in county events, develop strong leadership skills, and apply during the annual Ambassador application process coordinated by the County Incentives & Recognition Committee.
