We currently have 6 weather stations, 3 in El Dorado, 2 in Calaveras, and 1 in Amador. These weather station monitor locally and allow our models to be tuned to more specific values. The models rely on growers providing bud break information (when your vineyard reaches 50% budbreak) and the weather stations to forecast the risk of powdery mildew infection.
View the current index for the foothill stations now at the UC IPM website Grape Powdery Mildew Risk Assessment Index.
You can also access the guidelines for grape powdery mildew, including the index table at the UC IPM Grape Pest Management web page. A description of the model and how to calculate risk index yourself can be found under UC IPM Models: Powdery Mildew.
- UC IPM Annual Efficacy Bulletin has up-to-date information on fungicide efficacy in grapes.
