Join the UC Master Gardeners of the Lake Tahoe Basin for an essential workshop dedicated to fall garlic planting. Learn to successfully plant and overwinter garlic so you can enjoy a bountiful harvest next summer. A limited quantity of garlic seeds will be available to purchase for $5, cash or check only.

    • How to choose the right cold-hardy varieties.
  • Soil preparation
    • How to amend your garden beds to encourage strong root growth before the ground freezes.
  • Planting and Overwintering
    • Proper depth, spacing, and mulching techniques to insulate and protect your cloves during the deep winter months.
  • Spring Care
    • What to expect when the snow melts, including early watering tips and when to harvest those delicious garlic scapes.
