About the Event

Learn about planting tough Tahoe varieties

Join the UC Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe for a hands-on guide to high elevation edible gardening in spring. We are focusing on the "Tahoe Tough" varieties that can handle our crisp spring nights and short growing window. In this class you will learn how to grow leafy greens, herbs, peas, and potatoes.

The class is free to attend, and a limited quantity of kale starts and potato seeds are available for pre-purchase.
What You’ll Learn:

  • Expert tips for growing leafy greens (e.g., kale, chard, lettuce), herbs, peas, and potatoes.
  • When to plant based on soil temperature rather than the calendar.
  • Strategies to keep your young starts safe from late-season snow squalls.
  • How to keep the harvest coming all the way into summer.
