I'm quite sure that people have wondered what became of my Hoya after my last blog.
I did wait until what I thought might be spring. It was hard to tell by the weather, so I used the calendar. Also, the plant was starting to tip over the bigger pot that I put the plant into to stabilize it. Added to that, it was almost to the ceiling!
I cut it about halfway and threw away the bare part of the stem. I put the remaining part into a pot with soil. According to the information I reported in the last blog, I was prepared to wait for a long while to see anything besides signs of life. Well, of course, last Sunday I saw a little nub on it. Today, June 10th, there is a little leaf!! Talk about signs of life!
OK. Now onto the original plant. At the time I did the cutting, I repotted the plant to the next larger pot. During May, I noticed growth where I had made the cut. I'm telling you, this plant is nuts. Every morning I check it, and it is taller yet! I think I may be cutting it again soon, as it is starting to get tippy again. It is also sending out leaves to help unbalance it. Then, on closer inspection, I noticed a new leaf had come up from the soil.
All in all, I guess that my initial attempt to kill it with water and wait an entire year for it to do something has paid off by making it want to live in a big way.
