UC Small Farms Network

Our Work

The UC Small Farms Network supports California’s small farms through technical assistance, field and market research and practical tools. Our clientele includes California’s small-scale and diversified farms, which typically operate on small acreage and grow niche, emerging, culturally important, and specialty crops. Our work is grounded in local relationships and shaped by the priorities of California’s small-scale farming communities.

Powered by Local Extension Teams

At the heart of our work are UC Small Farms Advisors and county-based teams. They live and work in the communities they serve, providing hands-on support tailored to local conditions. Our teams collaborate with farmers and partner organizations to address real-world challenges—from improving soil health and water use to navigating regulations and accessing new markets. Their expertise, relationships, and on-the-ground knowledge define this statewide network.

The local extension teams ensure materials and assistance are accessible to all producers, offering direct outreach and technical support in Spanish, Korean, Cantonese, Mandarin, Hmong, Iu Mein, Punjabi and English.
