About Jones Gulch 4-H Summer Camp
4-H Camp is designed to create a welcoming environment where youth learn through hands-on, experiential activities while developing valuable leadership, citizenship, and life skills. Campers build confidence by trying new things, discovering their strengths, and stepping outside their comfort zones. Through shared experiences and cherished 4-H Camp traditions, youth become part of a supportive camp family, forming friendships and creating memories that can last a lifetime.
San Mateo County 4-H Summer Camp at Jones Gulch YMCA in LaHonda, CA offers a full week of fun, adventure, and learning. Campers enjoy a variety of activities, including swimming, boating, archery, arts and crafts, hiking, rock tower climbing, and—most recently—a ropes course and zip line high in the canopy of the Redwoods. Each evening features fun, all-camp recreation that brings everyone together, encourages participation, and creates opportunities for positive youth interactions.
Throughout the week, every camper has opportunities to develop leadership skills by getting involved, taking on responsibilities, and contributing to the camp community. For youth who are interested, camp can also be the beginning of a journey toward becoming part of the camp staff and taking on greater leadership roles in future years. However, leadership at camp looks different for everyone. Campers are never required to pursue a staff or leadership position; simply participating, trying new things, making friends, and being part of the camp community are valuable accomplishments in themselves.
Age requirement: Must be 8 yrs old by June 1, 2027.
