Bringing UC research to Napa County

University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) is the local link that connects Napa County residents directly to the powerful research, expertise, and information of the UC system. Our mission is to serve California through the creation, development, and application of knowledge in agricultural, natural, and human resources, delivering research-based solutions directly to producers, families, youth, and consumers.


Our Community-Centered Programs

Our UC programs in Napa County generate and deliver information to residents using multiple methods, including workshops, training, and volunteer programs. Highlighted below, are just a few of the many specialized initiatives, where our advisors and dedicated volunteers are addressing the most critical local needs.

Sustainable Wine Grape Production

Our Viticulture Program delivers research-based information and conducts problem-solving research for Napa County's wine grape industry. We provide expert guidance on viticulture production, pest management and sustainable vineyard practices. Explore more on our Viticulture program page.

Research-Based Gardening Education

The UC Master Gardeners of Napa County train dedicated volunteers to provide free, research-based horticultural education to local residents. Youth Leadership & Skill Building

The 4-H Program empowers youth (ages 5-19) to reach their fullest potential by building critical citizenship, leadership, and life skills through "learn-by-doing" projects. Human-Wildlife Conflict Solutions

We advance and communicate research-based practices for managing both pest and beneficial wildlife in agricultural and urban-rural settings. Community Fire Resilience

Leveraging University research, this program provides the community with essential, science-based knowledge on fire ecology, defensible space, and risk reduction strategies. Community Nutrition & Health

This program empowers Napa residents to adopt healthier lifestyles through education focused on nutrition, food safety, and chronic disease prevention. We deliver evidence-based programs designed to improve the health and well-being of families and support our aging population.
