2026 Devil’s Garden Colt Challenge

The Devil’s Garden Colt Challenge gives 4-H and FFA youth the opportunity to train a wild horse while building horsemanship, leadership, and responsibility. Youth work with a horse over a six-month period, with their progress showcased at a public horse show. In 2026, UC Cooperative Extension Modoc County will partner with the Modoc National Forest and Bureau of Land Management to offer horses ages 0–4, including mares and geldings.

Applications open December 15, 2025, and are due January 16, 2026.
