Christmastime Surprise

A few years ago I attended Ken William's Irrigation class at Solano College. One evening the class was re-piping the overhead sprinkler system in the greenhouse. Pipes were cut out and replaced and during this process there were a few plant casualties.

Free Wood Chips!

Be careful what you wish for. Last fall I moved to Vallejo and bought this cute little house off of Georgia Street. It had a good size front yard and a large backyard. I wanted a yard to put in a garden and a green house.

A Rose is a Rose-Or is it that simple?

As we prepare to prune back our roses in January, it's fun to imagine them fully blooming once again in the coming spring. We might even be tempted by all those catalogs arriving in our mailboxes, to invest in a new bush or perhaps a climber or a rose tree. I must admit, I'm very tempted.

Around the Bird Feeder

I've always liked wild birds, but am relatively new to the world of bird feeders. I hung my first bird feeder a couple of years ago, filled it with a generic wild bird mix, and attracted a few limited species of birds.
