UC Davis Distinguished Professor Bruce Dupree Hammock (1947-2026) will be among the individuals remembered at the UC Davis Annual Remembrance Ceremony, scheduled from noon to 12:30 p.m., Monday, May 11 at the UC Davis Conference Center, 550 Alumni Lane.

An internationally recognized scientist and an acclaimed member of the UC Davis Department of Entomology and Nematology since 1980, he died Jan. 5 in Davis at age 78. He held a joint appointment with the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The May 11th event is "a heartfelt tribute to the students, staff and academics who have passed away during the previous year," a spokesperson said. "It's an opportunity to come together as a community to honor their lives, acknowledge their contributions and celebrate the memories."

The ceremony will include a brief introduction from the chancellor, music and choral performances, and the reading of names.

Celebration of Life and Legacy of Bruce Hammock on Oct. 10

A celebration of the life and legacy of Bruce Hammock will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10 in California Hall, UC Davis campus. Among the speakers will be Chancellor Gary May. Coordinating the event is UC Davis Distinguished Professor Walter Leal of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, and former chair of the Department of Entomology.
