Hopland REC 75th Anniversary Open House

Celebrate 75 years of the Hopland Research and Extension Center with us! All are welcome to our FREE Open House on Sunday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Explore the beautiful oak woodlands and meet the scientists studying the land.
Activities will include:
• 5k Fun Run at 10:30am
• Sheepdog demonstration at 11:00am
• Driving tour of the site at 11:30am
• Sheep shearing demonstration at 12:00pm
• Guided Walk at 1:00pm
• Oak regeneration
• Explore the creek
• Bird watching with Peregrine Audubon Society
• Sheep at work
• Crafts: wool felting, flower printing, oak leaf stamping, California grasses cyanotype printing
• Fire and Forests with Mendocino County Fire Safe Council
• Meet the researchers: Dr. Bob Lane (ticks and tick-borne disease), Dr. Valerie Eviner (California Grasslands), Dr. Adina Merenlender (Pond restoration and the California Naturalist Program)
• Lalo's Mexican Food Truck
Visitors are invited to bring a packed lunch or purchase lunch from a Lalo's Mexican Food truck that will be on site. Events will be family friendly with some stations suitable for younger children and other topics more suited to adults.
