Mission Statement
Our mission is to empower communities, agencies, educators, youth, and water professionals across Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties with the knowledge, tools, and partnerships needed to support sustainable water management and resilient watersheds.
We are committed to listening to the challenges people face, learning from local experiences, and meeting communities and partners where they are. Through research-based education, outreach, and collaboration, we work together to identify practical solutions that support drinking and environmental water quality, indoor and outdoor water use efficiency, commercial, industrial, and institutional water efficiency, water supply security, and water equity.
By promoting informed decision-making, shared stewardship, and community-centered action, we aim to protect Southern California’s water resources and help create healthier, more resilient places for current and future generations.
Service Areas
The Urban Watershed Resilience Program primarily serves Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. These counties represent a diverse Southern California region shaped by urban growth, drought cycles, water supply challenges, watershed health concerns, stormwater issues, and the need for practical, community-centered water solutions.
While the program’s primary focus is within these four counties, our work may extend beyond this service area when water topics are broader in scope, when we participate in statewide task forces or collaborative efforts, or when support is requested for county-based, regional, or statewide water education and outreach needs.
Through education, outreach, partnerships, and research-based resources, the program supports communities, agencies, educators, and water professionals working toward healthier watersheds and more sustainable water practices across Southern California and beyond.
