Visit “Our Garden” during the East Bay Public Gardens Open House and discover how beautiful, productive, and water-wise gardening can work together in Contra Costa County!

Stroll through our demonstration vegetable beds, orchard, and low-water perimeter plantings while Master Gardeners share practical tips on soil health, irrigation, sustainable gardening practices, and growing food successfully in our local climate.

Don’t miss special presentations by Master Gardener Steve Danziger at 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM:
“Best Practices for Home Hardening & Firewise Landscaping”

Bring your gardening questions too! Our Ask A Master Gardener table will be available throughout the event to help with plant problems, gardening advice, pest questions, and more.

Here's the direct link to the event's webpage, where you can find a detailed plant list by garden site and the event map to plan your visit.

When to Visit

We're normally open to the public from 9:00 am to noon on Wednesdays from April through October. Come visit to wander through the garden, attend a weekly presentation, or get your questions answered.

From the first blooms of April to the harvest of October, we gather every Wednesday under our iconic big oak tree. Enjoy our weekly presentations from 10:00 to 11:30 am, and take advantage of dedicated time with our 'Ask a Master Gardener' team for personalized gardening guidance.
