For the past several years, the Master Gardeners have had a "gardening education" booth at the Central Coast Greenhouse Growers Association Open House. This year marks the 11th year of the CCGGA Tours! Many professionals in our community are sharing horticulture knowledge that day, including the Master Gardeners. Wholesale growers open their doors to the public for tours and sales of fresh flowers and plants, all to raise money for local youth scholarships. As Master Gardeners, it's our number one goal to provide education for the home gardener. You can find us at Edwards Barn in Nipomo on Saturday, April 14, 2012, 9:00am - 3:00pm.

I am a teacher with a large school garden. Would you be intetested in giving me a discount for plants my students could plant in our garden? I'm looking for vegetables, beneficial insect attracted, and edible flowers and herbs. Thank you. Christina Wilkinson

Hi Christina. There may be someone in the growers association who could help you out with discounted or donated plants. This group, The UC Master Gardeners, propagate only small quantities of plants. Here's the link to this year's Open House - http://ccgga.com/%20events/open-house

The event organizers might be able to connect you with some of the commercial growers. Or, you could meet some of them at the event. It's on Saturday, April 6th.
